About this course

The Noorani Qaida is where Quranic reading begins. Built on the classical Qaida syllabus, this course takes a complete beginner — child or adult, brother or sister — from recognising the Arabic alphabet to reading the Quran with the rules of Tajweed applied correctly.

No prior Arabic is needed. If your child has never seen an Arabic letter, this is the right place to start.

Why it matters

Everything that follows rests on this. A child who learns the letters from their proper points of articulation reads correctly for life; one who skips it spends years correcting habits. Our teachers take the difficult exercises slowly and do not move on until the sound is right.

Course outline

  • Correct pronunciation — letters from their proper Makhraj
  • Letter shapes — how each letter changes in position
  • Compound letters — Huroof e Murakkabat
  • Harakaat — the short vowels
  • Standing movements — vertical Harakaat
  • Maddah letters — extended sounds
  • Leen letters — soft letters
  • Sukoon (Jazm) — still letters
  • Tashdeed — doubled letters
  • Tanween — nunnation
  • Rules of stopping (Waqf)
  • Tajweed exercises throughout the Qaida
